EXCAVATION
CONTROLS

All excavations must be conducted under a Bardavcol issued Excavation Permit.

A Dial Before You Dig (DBYD) enquiry must be submitted for all excavations, and further visual inspections undertaken for the services.

All services identified in the DBYD must be physically located to ensure they will not be damaged during excavation.

All requirements of the Asset owners must be met.

All excavations deeper than 1.5m must be benched, battered, or shored appropriately.

All excavations over 1.5m must have a rescue plan in place.

All excavations over 3.0m require workers to be harnessed and a davit arm setup for rescue.

Plant and other items must keep out of the zone of influence of the trench.

Workers must not be in the trench when the excavator is digging, and must remain outside of the slew zone of the machine at all times.
-
No one can work outside of the Shoring/Battered/Benched area when in the trench.
-
Edge protection must be installed for all excavations over 1.5m.
-
All excavations must be fenced off from access after-hours, and covered if practicable.
