James Congdon & Sir Donald Bradman Drive Intersection Upgrade

$15.3 million - Department for Infrastructure and Transport

The upgrade of the intersection of James Congdon Drive and Sir Donald Bradman Drive to improve traffic flow, safety, and connectivity. The upgrade will make it easier to travel from South Road directly to the city, provide better access between the CBD and western suburbs, and improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

This project forms part of broader efforts to reduce congestion, improve travel reliability, and support safer, more efficient transport choices.

The upgrade prioritises safety by separating traffic movements where possible and providing dedicated infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists. New wombat crossings and Shared Use Paths will make active travel safer and more accessible.

Key Features of the Upgrade

  • Three new right-turn lanes from James Congdon Drive onto Sir Donald Bradman Drive

  • Additional through lanes on Sir Donald Bradman Drive

  • Improved turning lanes to increase capacity and reduce delays

  • New dedicated wombat crossings for safer pedestrian movement

  • New Shared Use Paths to improve cyclist safety and connectivity within the project area
