HIGHLIGHTED PROJECT

Light River Rail Replacement - Design & Construct

Located in Korunye between Adelaide and Crystal Brook, the Light River Rail Bridge — a 28m steel bridge constructed circa 1915 — had reached the end of its service life and required replacement.

Bardavcol, in partnership with Sterling Infrastructure, recently completed the design and construction of the new bridge for ARTC.

The works included removal of the existing structure and construction of a new 28m steel superstructure through-span bridge, supported by concrete piles and pile caps. The track is carried by ballast over precast concrete deck panels. The new bridge was designed to accommodate 300LA rail traffic load and provides a 100-year design life.

A major highlight of the project was the successful replacement of the bridge within a 60-hour rail shutdown window over the Easter weekend. The Bardavcol team worked tirelessly to remove the existing bridge and install the new structure, ensuring the track was re-opened on schedule.

The imagery showcases both the intensity of the shutdown works and the quality of the completed bridge. This project was a true team effort — with Bardavcol’s delivery team, our design partners at Sterling, our contractors, and the strong collaboration of our client, ARTC.

As a proudly South Australian owned and operated business, Bardavcol continues to deliver a wide range of civil projects that support our state. We are always looking for talented people to join our team — whether you’re a qualified engineer, operator, apprentice, or trainee, we’d love to hear from you.

HIGHLIGHTED PROJECT

Novo West Lakes Development

At Bardavcol, we deliver a wide range of civil construction services, and our earthworks team is currently achieving excellent results for our client, Potentia, at the Novo West Lakes development. This project will see around 500 new homes built in Adelaide’s western suburbs, with Bardavcol completing the earthworks for Stages 1, 2, and 3.

Our scope of works has included site clearing, preloading, and remove-and-replace operations to engineer the ground conditions in preparation for this future community. The collaboration and trust shown by the Potentia team have been invaluable, and the results speak for themselves.

CCF Earth Awards 2022

Bardavcol were surprised and very pleased to receive the 2022 “Culture and Values” Award from the Civil Contractors Federation SA - CCF SA at the 2022 Earth Awards last Friday evening, and also very happy that Daniel Kranixfeld one of our longest serving team members was able to receive it

The award was present to Bardavcol in recognition of it’s involvement in the civil construction industry for over 45 years.

We would like to thank the CCF SA CEO, Rebecca Pickering for describing how Bardavcol have actively engaged and contributed in the civil construction industry in many areas over a number of years including representatives on various committees and supporting the industry by upskilling and training.

This award is fantastic recognition of business such as Bardavcol being a consistent albeit a quiet achiever.

This award would not have been possible were it not for all Bardavcol employees (both past and present), our subcontractors and supply chain. #proudlysouthaustralian #bardavcol #civil #shapingthefuture #team #culture

CCF Earth Awards 2024

We are thrilled to announce that last Friday night we were awarded an Excellence in Construction award at the Civil Contractors Federation SA - CCF SA Earth Awards for Breakout Creek Stage 3. We must thank the project’s funding partners

Green AdelaideCity of Charles SturtCity of West Torrens,
the South Australian Department for Trade and Investment through the Planning Development Fund,
and the Australian Government through the Environment Restoration Fund

Also a massive thank you to our project consultants and sub contractors without which we could not have delivered such a successful project. Most importantly we are so proud of our Bardavcol people who have delivered such a stunning outcome within a tight site with limited access which was subject to inundation in the 9th wettest year since 1900.

We are a truly South Australian business and the project at Breakout Creek Stage 3 leaves a legacy to improve the environment and amenity for the community to enjoy for many years to come.

This is one to celebrate!

Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi (Park 16) Wetlands

Bardavcol have thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Ecodynamics to assist BHKC Stormwater Board and ProcurePM in delivering the Pakapakanthi / Victoria Park Wetlands Project.

With the official opening last Friday, feedback from the community has been outstanding, making battling through a wet winter well worth it.

Well done to Greg Matthews, Gianni Fattori and the entire Bardavcol team on delivering this outstanding project.

Flagstaff Road Upgrade

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (the Department) and Bardavcol are progressing well with the delivery of the Flagstaff Road Upgrade project, with bulk earth works now completed in readiness for the construction of the fourth additional lane to make the road a permanent two-way dual carriageway.

Bardavcol have been working hard investigating opportunities to reduce the project’s carbon footprint and improve sustainability outcomes. Through an idea initiated by SA Water, excess material excavated from this project will be re-used at Happy Valley and Mount Bold reservoir reserves, as part of works to stabilise ground for carparks and walking trails, before the sites open to the public later this year.

As part of Bardavcol’s ongoing business we continually investigate opportunities to integrate projects to deliver broader improved sustainability and efficiency delivery in collaboration with the Department and other key stakeholders.
